Meet Simon Owen, Owner and Director of Standby Productions
As the W&Co. community has grown over the years, we build strong and lasting relationships with those that we work with and would like to introduce them to you! Please meet Simon Owen, Owner and Director of Standby Productions, a sustainable video production company based in Manchester. Simon kindly did a Q&A with us, so you can get to know him and his company a little better!
When did Standby Productions first come into being?
Standby Productions was founded in 2011! What started as a passion project is now celebrating its 10 year anniversary.
What was your drive to set up a production company?
This has always been a hobby and passion of mine, I am lucky enough to have been able to turn this into a business.
Where is the company now?
We are a team of 10 creatives based in Beehive Mill in Ancoates, Manchester. We love where we live!
What sort of brands and companies do you work with?
We work with a diverse variety of sectors, from finance and fashion to cars and everything in between, but with a focus on high end, commercial production work.
Previous clients include New Era, Land Rover, British Cycling, Velcro and Crewe Clothing.
What do you love most about your work?
We are extremely passionate about what we do, and as a team we are driven by the knowledge that we haven’t yet made our best film, continuously working toward bigger, bolder and better productions. As a team we thrive working in an environment where every day is creatively different.
Biggest achievement to date?
Celebrating our ten year anniversary! And since the business has evolved from a hobby over a decade ago, we have now created the blueprint for Standby with the goal of becoming the first sustainable production company in the North of England, supporting Lancashire Wildlife Trust and encouraging sustainable practices such as no plastic bottles on set, minimal printing in the office, rehoming props wherever possible and using only sustainable cleaning products.
