Please meet Alex Platt, Director of UK Staffing Group Ltd, a nationwide recruitment service provider operating a number of recruitment brands across the UK. UK Staffing Group brands provide locally targeted recruitment solutions in their regions with an aim to be the best recruitment agencies in the UK.
Alex kindly did a Q&A with us, so you can get to know him and the company a little better!
When did the UK Staffing Group first come into being?
UK Staffing began in 2015. Myself and my co-founder, Ian Buckley had worked together previously, and decided to join forces to begin our own recruitment brand. We both wanted the autonomy and freedom to work in our own way.
What was your drive to set up a recruitment company and how did you come to be in recruitment in the first place?
We had both worked for a successful business in Didsbury and had progressed to be top performers within the business. We had our own ambitions to do it ourselves and venture into some emerging markets under our own lead.
Where is the company now? Do you have a vision for where the company is going?
The brand has changed in recent years with the acquisition of Manchester staff. We’ve moved away from solely doing Engineering & Construction and now cover a much wider scope of markets including digital, IT, sales, marketing, finance, legal and admin.
The pandemic affected some industries more than others and consequently weren’t looking to recruit so widening our markets has proved to be a great step. The challenge is bigger but also means we can help recruit more people across a much broader spectrum of roles.
We have 3 brands in Manchester Staff, Birmingham Staff and London Staff, with a clear vision to grow all three brands into independent offices under the UK Staffing Group brand.
What sort of brands and companies do you recruit for?
A wide range of SMEs and blue-chip companies. We have a very diverse client base. Some well-known brands being Beaverbrooks, Vernon Building Society, The HUT Group, Engie, Siemens, KPMG, Concentrix Egertons, and Big Brand Ideas. Helping these companies across all of their functions.
What do you love most about your work?
Helping people! Whether it be helping business clients that are looking to grow their teams and businesses or candidates keen to take an ambitious step in their career.
